Philip Grant is the pen-name of a retired doctor from Edinburgh. He attended a famous Scottish school, George Heriot's, founded in 1634. Having qualified at Edinburgh (many years after Sir Arthur Conan Doyle), Philip practiced in Edinburgh, Leeds, the Middle East and London. He follows in the footsteps of many other doctor-authors such as Somerset Maugham, Conan Doyle and A. J. Cronin. And, like the latter, practiced in London's West End where many actors, musicians and writers can be found in his list of patients.
After many years of occasional writing, from revue sketches at University to medical journalism, he had his first novel published in 1993 - THE COUNTERFEIT MAN. His new book, THE OTHER MR. HOLMES, is the first in a series featuring Bartholomew Holmes of Scotland Yard. Bartholomew Holmes next adventure is entitled FATAL SOLUTIONS and is presently in the gestation phase.
Philip now shares his time between the Yorkshire Dales and Marbella, Spain. He is at present working on a screenplay for a TV detective series and a film for Hollywood.
