"Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft were the major influences in my wanting to write."
With mentors like these, Patty G. Henderson found herself writing supernatural horror early in life. "I had no choice, really," she says, "I was sucked into the dark and started writing short stories in my early teens."
Patty was first published in PARAGON and then in Dale Donaldson's innovative, cutting-edge fanzine MOONBROTH in the 1970's. She's also written a short script titled THE MISSING PAGE about a man whose greed leads him to ask the favors of the wrong demon. A firm believer in the 'romantic gothic' element, she doesn't feel comfortable with the splatter and gore, in your face mentality of some of today's horror fiction.
"It is such a delicious high to still frighten people using the classic supernatural elements-ghosts, vampires, werewolves. Anne Rice still weaves this type of magic into her vampire novels just as Barbara Michaels does with the supernatural mystery.
BLOOD SCENT is Patty's first novel. She has also just completed her first mystery/supernatural novel, THE BURNING OF HER SIN, which is the first book in the Brenda Strange, private investigator series to be published by Barclay Books.
"THE BURNING OF HER SIN is not your common mystery. It has strong supernatural elements. It has the same thrills and chills you might find in a Barbara Michaels mystery. I loved her "Ammie Come Home." The finest modern day mystery/supernatural tale. Call it woo woo if you like."
Between writing novels and short stories, Patty still works a full time job at a photography studio. Patty was born, raised and still lives in Tampa, Florida and with publication of BLOOD SCENT hopes you too can embrace the dark side with her.
"Come along, don't be afraid. Only your nightmares and primal fantasies await."
