Born in New Orleans, O'Neil De Noux is a former homicide detective and organized crime investigator with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office in suburban New Orleans. Mr. De Noux has also worked as a U.S. Army combat photographer, a private investigator, a criminal intelligence analyst, a journalist, a magazine editor, and a computer graphics artist. As a police officer, he received seven commendations, primarily for solving difficult murder cases. In 1982 he was named "Homicide Detective of the Year" for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. In 1989 he was proclaimed an "Expert Witness" on the homicide crime scene by the Criminal District Court in New Orleans.

Mr. De Noux is a graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie, Louisiana, Alabama's Troy University, and the Southern Police Institute of the University of Louisville (Homicide Investigation). He teaches mystery writing at Tulane University College in New Orleans and is the founding editor of two fiction magazines, Mystery Street and New Orleans Stories. Mr. De Noux is an active member of the Mystery Writers of America and the Private Eye Writers of America, and is the author of 6 published novels and one true crime book.

Mr De Noux's short stories have appeared in such high-profile magazines as American Way - Inflight Magazine of American Airlines, Mary Higgings Clark Mystery Magazine, Hemispheres - Inflight Magazine of United Airlines and Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine. Over seventy of his stories have been published in the U.S., Canada, Denmark, England, Germany, Italy, Scotland, and Sweden. He is also a contributor to The Thrilling Detective web site.

Mr De Noux has also created New Orleans PI LUCIEN CAYE is a WWII vet and former New Orleans Police Officer in this series set in post-war Louisiana. He first appeared in an erotic detective short story, "Erotophobia", in Kiss and Kill (1997), and has since appeared in several more short stories in various anthologies.
