

Mary Reed was born in Newcastle-on-Tyne in northeastern England. She emigrated to America and, in the late 70's, sold her first story to BBC World Service Radio's short story programme. Her first mystery story appeared in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine in l987.
Eric and Mary sold their first story about John the Eunuch to Mike Ashley for his anthology entitled "The Mammoth Book of Historical Whodunits" in l993. One For Sorrow was published six years that first John story. They are currently up to his fifth short adventure, A Lock of Hair for Proserpine, which appeared in Maxim Jakubowski's second Ellis Peters Memorial anthology, Chronicles of Crime. They have also co-authored a series featuring Inspector Dorj, set in modern Mongolia.
