From Booklist

"Young widow Trudy Roundtree is back in Ogeechee, Georgia, where she grew up, working as a police officer for her cousin, Police Chief Henry Huckabee. Just after returning from homicide school, Trudy is faced with a decades-old murder when the body of a young woman is found in an abandoned icebox. Trudy manages to identify the woman, but her investigation is hampered by the lack of clues and physical evidence--and by the problem of interrogating people she's known for years, one of whom may be the murderer. Trudy is a likable first-person narrator who thinks it's her duty to raise the consciousness of her Andy Griffith-like cousin Henry, resulting in some humorous verbal sparring. Folksy, with a nice feel for small-town southern life, this series will appeal to fans of Joan Hess' Maggody series."
