

John Herrmann is a new voice in the literary mystery genre.
He was born in Berkeley, California and was educated at San Francisco State University, Stanford and the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. His stories first attracted attention when they began appearing in the late 1960's in the leading literary magazines. His work has earned honors in "Best American Short Stories," "Best American Mystery Stories-1999" and "Best Little Magazine Fiction." He also founded the MFA degree program in creative writing at the University of Montana, Missoula, and was its first director.
After twenty years of university-level teaching, he turned to magazine journalism, publishing over three-hundred articles in magazines since 1979.
He lives with his border collie, Mackie, in a small log house in a remote area of northwest Montana. His biography appears in Who's Who in America 2001.
