David P. Warren has always had an interest in the human condition. "I am interested in people -- who they are, what they do, and how they communicate or fail to do so," says Warren. In his book, Sealing Fate, Warren examines the extent of human weakness and what can happen when people give in to temptation.
A practicing attorney in San Luis Obispo, California, Warren draws on his many years of experience in law to form the basis for the story. "In employment litigation, I've found out what everybody else does for a living. I've gotten to know how they live and work. All the characters I've met over the years come back (via) the characters in the book," says Warren. "In part, the idea originated from the many clients I have represented whose fortunes have turned as a result of fateful decisions."
Having always wanted to write, Warren graduated from California State University Fullerton with a B.S. in Political Science and a minor in English. He studied pre-law while taking creative writing courses on the side and went on to receive his J.D. from Western State University College. Warren has been a member of the California State Bar since 1978.
Although his love of writing began in high school, legal documents have been Warren's only outlet for writing over the years. Warren only fantasized of becoming a full-time fiction writer. Then, two years ago, he started working on Sealing Fate. Warren writes in his free time after work and on the weekends and only recently has begun to focus on getting published. He is now at work on his second novel. "Writing is a lot of things," says Warren. "It's a passion. I love it."
Warren was born in London, England where he lived until he was three years old. His family then moved to Ontario, Canada and stayed until he was nine. They finally settled in Southern California where Warren continued to live until 2002. He now resides with his wife in Pismo Beach, California. They have three grown children out in the world.
