Public relations executive Michael Tanner and his wife Mary are hired to develop a marketing plan for Chequamegon Resource Recovery, a company that raises and sells old growth timber from the bottom of the bay. When divers find a skull amidst the timber and an environmentalist is found dead in the company's warehouse, the ensuing investigation threatens to sink the company.
